What Goes In Doesn’t Always Come Out the Same
27 02 2008Eh heh. So it’s day three of writing the storyline of The SunRiders. There have been some interesting developments already. My girls are appearently putting up a small fight and are insisting they don’t really want to ride mechas anymore. Anyways, how this story turns out will be interesting at the very least. I once again have no idea what exactly I’m doing and what’s going to happen, so I shall let the girls lead and see where I end up!
Oh, and did you catch episode 20 of Gundam 00? Woah… Some crazy developments there, some of which I saw coming and some of which caught me by surprise. I definately didn’t expect all three powers to get GN Drives so easily. I am kind of disappointed that Graham Aker turned his new Gundam down… C’mon, he was getting screwed over the entire series because his Flag Fighter just wasn’t good enough and now that he finally has a Gundam, he doesn’t want to ride it? Man… Way to be so badass and stupid at the same time. On the flip side, I am kind of glad that he will get to keep his Flag Fighter though… Even if it is kind of weak, it does seriously look cool. And he can further prove how much more of a badass he is by defeating the Thrones with just a Flag Fighter, and then get himself a Gundam…
What I saw coming was the death of Saji’s sister. The instant she entered Ali’s car, I knew she was a goner. Poor Saji, it seems that nothing is going for him, huh? I bet he’ll try to murder See-chan (My way of referring to Setsuna. >(^_^)<) when he realizes he’s a Gundam Meister. Or we can just say the hell with logic and and give Saji a Gundam too. Then he and See-chan could duke it out in a death match. Wouldn’t make an ounce of sense, but it’d LOOK cool, and that’s the only thing that matters. Especially if they burst their SEEDs. Oops, wrong series. XD

Cosplay Gone Wrong
26 02 2008If a 39-year old cross dresser broke into MY school, I’d be screaming too.
—————————————————————-
TOKYO (Reuters) – A Japanese man was arrested for trespassing this week after turning up at a high school dressed in a girl’s uniform and a long wig, local police said.
Thirty-nine-year-old Tetsunori Nanpei told police he had bought the uniform over the Internet and put it on to take a stroll near the school in Saitama, north of Tokyo, on Wednesday, the daily Asahi Shimbun said.
When students standing outside the gates started to scream at the sight of him, he dashed inside the school grounds, hoping to blend in with the crowds of teenagers, the paper said.
They also screamed, forcing the man to flee, losing his wig in the process. A school clerk pursued him and stopped him at a nearby riverbank, the paper said.
Police confirmed the arrest of the man in school uniform and wig but declined to give further details.

Samu-kun’s (Personal) Best and Worst List
24 02 2008I love anime. Actually, there’s quite a story to how this entire obsession started. At the end of my third year in high school, I kind of went into a depression over troubles about school and girls. I’m not saying that anime was the magical cure for my depression, because it obviously wasn’t, but it did have somewhat of a role in making me better. Mainly, I was introduced to Love Hina completely by accident and that pretty much dealt with the two things that were bothering me the most at that point in my life: girls and school. Pretty much after that, I watched romantic comedy to romantic comedy and became hopeless obsessed with anime. XD Well, now my interests have somewhat expanded from just romantic comedies, but I’m still just as obsessed with anime as I was when it started.
So, I think it’s about time I wrote down my personal favorites and not-so-favorites. ^_^ So starting up, let’s begin with my favorites!
SAMU-KUN’S FAVORITES
Love Hina – Obviously, the series that started it all. Absolutely hysterical plot with adorable and cute characters all around. My favorite girl’s Shinobu Maehara
Kanon 06 – An absolutely beautiful anime that makes you laugh one episode and cry in another. Nayuki is ssoooo cute!!! Nyuuu…
Sky Girls OVA – Three girls on a battleship that fight strange nano-monsters on mechas? What’s there not to love!?
Vandread Stage 2 – A space adventure of epic proportions. Cute girls, exciting space battles, great story.
Manabi Straight! – You must watch this anime, no matter who you are, even if you don’t even like anime. It centers around a student council’s efforts to hold a culture festival. Absolutely heart warming story with quite possibly the cutest art style ever created.
Rozen Maiden Ouverture – A stunning OVA that entirely changes the way you view the entire Rozen Maiden series. Also stars one of the best villians ever created: Suigintou
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 – The series just keeps getting better and better. Cutting edge animation and a cast of very well developed characters. Can’t wait to see how this one ends!
Lucky Star – Uhh… No list would be complete without this. Tsukasa Hiragii is my all time favorite character in any anime. She just captures the soul of the cute, shy girl so well that she’s simply unbeatable.
SAMU-KUN’S NOT-SO-FAVORITES
It seriously takes ALOT to annoy me, especially with anime. I’m not really one of those people that purposefully go out and try to expose the faults of various series. But seriously, these animes are very, very, very bad… So bad that even *I* put them in my worsts list…
-Mahou Sensei Negima – Let me clarify one thing. I mean the first anime. Not the manga. Not even the remake. As a matter of fact, I ADORE the manga. But the original anime was just complete disaster. Ugh… Where do I even begin. First we have the hideous art style that looks like the entire thing was made on flash. Then, we have the utter disaster of a story. 80% of the episodes are essentially fillers. Not only that, but this anime has the worst ending I’ve seen in my life. (WARNING SPOILERS COMING AHEAD) The hell kind of a moron decides to kill Asuna? Ugh… Absolutely disasterous.
-H2O: Footprints in the Sand. Episode 8 officially put this anime in the list. Wow. I am still STUNNED from episode 8. It’s like the entire writing department pretty much gave up writing and just meshed together a bunch of left overs… There are simply no words to describe what exactly happened in episode 8. Just no. No. It can’t seriously be happening. Oh god, it IS happening isn’t it!? OH WHHHYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!??????? Hayami calling Takuma “onii-san?” Hamaji his childhood friend!? OTOHA-CHAN TRANSFORMING INTO A MAGICAL GIRL!? ANOTHER OP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE EPISODE!!!??? TAKUMI’S UNCLE CROSS DRESSING!!!???????? AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! *shoots self to escape the misery*
-Vandread Stage 1 – Vandread’s definately the oddball. Stage 1 was essentially a total disaster. We have quite possibily the most idiotic ending to a series I’ve seen in recent memory. The entire crew of the Nirvana essentially forget everything they’ve learned in the entire series and decide to backstab the men? And the captain and Meia are essentially silent as this goes on? But then less than 40 minutes later, they decide to forget all their hatred again and now they’re buddies again? What’s going on!? It’s really amazing how much they managed to turn the series around with Stage 2…

Flying to the Future!
24 02 2008Woah… This theme’s actually pretty cool lookin’. ^_^
After keeping this blog going for awhile, it seems more and more clear that it revolves mainly around Raidaa, visual novels, and anime, so I decided to rename the blog and grab a more “spacey” theme. Hmm… It does look kind of dark though… I wonder if it’ll contrast a bit too much with all the cute things I’ll post… >_>;
So things have been rather hectic for the past couple days with Raidaa’s release and all and I haven’t been able to post on this blog much. Uguu, gomenasai! >_<; But I certainly am glad I was able to release it. There are many, many WIPs that never get completed and I’m glad Raidaa wasn’t one of them.
But going through its release certainly was alot tougher than I had anticipated. Asaga, Ikkari, and Chigara have been with me for nearly four months now. If it hadn’t been for them, and all the other support I’ve gotten from the community, then I would never have gotten this game completed. When I’m writing for Raidaa, it’s not like I’m creating a story. It’s more like I’m just a spectator. The real people who write the story are Asaga, Ikkari, and Chigara. I’m just the guy who watches them and is amazed at all the adventures they go through. It’s really tough, and sometimes even heart rending when I see someone who doesn’t like them. I guess it’s natural for me to be very defensive of them. They are like my children after all. I like hearing everyone’s comments, but it’s also very exhausting at the same time. Much more exhausting than I would have thought it would be, anyways.
The trick with writing, I guess, is to make the player forget he’s playing a game. The characters have to seem to come out of the screen and actually seem to be talking to you, instead of just reciting a predetermined line. That’s something that I caught on with as I wrote the full story of Raidaa and something I’ll be trying to do when I rewrite the entire script. But atleast I managed to fool myself at the end of the story. After about four straight months of working with them, they no longer seem like video game characters that I’ve created, but real individuals. Hearing someone say a bad word about them is pretty much hearing someone insult my girlfriend or something. (Like I’d know. Never had one. ._.;) It’s something that’s hard to cope with anyways.
Well, I’ve rambled on enough about that. Now let’s talk about the future. My next game will just be titled, “The SunRiders” to avoid any confusion with Raidaa no Asahi, Volume 1. An entirely new script will be written, but Ikkari, Asaga, and Chigara, as well as the SunRider, will remain. Both the visual novel and the gameplay engine will be rewritten. The new game will also feature mechas. (As in like, Gundam mechas. :3) As for what the new gameplay will be, all I know is that it won’t be a shmup. :3 I’ve already done that! It’s time for me to think up of something new. :3 But I will drop a hint… That new game that blended the 4x and the RTS genre, called Sins of a Solar Empire, intrigues me… :3 I’ve never played it, but I really think it sounds cool. XD
Mmm… Also, a small preview of what the new mechas will look like. (Note: Incoming WIP picture. I’m not finished with it. XD)

The Final Stretch
19 02 2008Grrr… I am so close to finishing volume 1 that I can nearly taste it. I only have a couple of major decisions to make.
First off, I’m wondering if I should bother to include CGs in this. If I don’t have any CGs, then I might be able to release the game in just days. If I include CGs, it might push the release date over to early next month. Following volume 1, I’m planning to rewrite the entire story to include far less CGs in general… So I don’t know if it’s even worth it to increase development time to bother making them for volume 1. All of them are for fanservice purposes, so they aren’t really “necessary” in the story. But it’ll look really stupid if I write in parathesis, (Gust of wind, Kaito sees Asaga’s panties) in the game script to replace all the CGs… (Spoiler note: No such event happens in the game. There is no wind in space. :3) Pah, we’ll just have to see what happens.
Second, I’ve already decided to cut the OP and ED. I’ll save that for the real game that’ll come after volume 1.
And one more thing. :3 In case you haven’t seen the official topic at Lemmasoft, I’m always looking for help on Raidaa no Asahi. The following positions are open! ^_^
