So I sign into the blogosphere thinking that SunRider’s Landing kind of needs an update, and I happen to find this. Woah, what an unexpected development. But ultimately, I do believe Sixten’s made the right decision to scrap Heart’s Content, atleast for now. :3 I’m just speaking through my experience making visual novels and assorted other games, but generally what I’ve found is that small projects like the new Miao Doujin tend to be completed more frequently then big projects like Heart’s Content. Also, it’s quite refreshing to see Sixten working for himself now. :3 I’ve been pretty much waiting for the moment when he’d burst free from everyone else’s control and just work for himself. He’s quite an amazing artist, better than anything I could be, so he shouldn’t let critics slow him down. The fact is, it’s better to have a flawed product than no product at all, and if he keeps slowing himself to correct minute details, it’ll inevitably just slow him down too much. I say Sixten should work independently on all future projects from now on. He certainly has the art skills to do it, and I thought the first installment of the Miao Doujin was wonderfully written. So I say ganbatte, Sixten!
Now the only problem is that I kind of wanted to make Heart’s Content fanart some time in the future since it’s always been Sixten who’s making all the fanart for me. ._.; Drats, I guess I’ll have to wait until mechas get involved in the Miao Diary before I can make any good art for him now. (This is a hint for Sixten: Loli naturally goes well with mecha.)
Oh yeah, I guess this kind of got me derailed from my original purpose of coming here to my blog. It looks like a certain group of individuals (>_>) have inadvertently caused me to start a new impromptu project, with a working title of Real Life: A Bishoujo Tragedy. Hopefully I’ll be finished with it by next week and I’ll be able to return to SunRiders soon.
Of course, a new project means that I need to start sketching like mad and squeeze out some new art. Actually, I was quite taken by what happened. I’m happy to say that I’ve once again made another leap in terms of quality. Here are some comparison shots over the course of this year…
Pre-Raidaa no Asahi
No… You seriously do not want to see this… Truly some hideous art here. *covers his face in shame*

Raidaa no Asahi
Okay… So it’s not much better, but atleast it’s digitally coloured now…

Beginning of SunRiders
Quite a large leap in terms of the quality. I finally bought a tablet and it came with Photoshop Elements. Not to mention drawing all the art for Raidaa no Asahi finally improved my skills and allowed me to finally draw some watchable art…

And now…
Thanks to lots of practice, hours of drawing, and a ton of luck, (And I mean A FREAKING nice BOATLOAD of luck, I definitely won’t be able to reproduce this quality again in some time… -_-;) I finally managed to make something that’s actually decent.

Hey, that’s actually pretty nice improvement, considering that all this happened over the span of a year. :o Hopefully things will keep going at this pace and I won’t have to have ugly characters in all my games any more. XD
Now, the only problem is that I definitely have to scrap all the art I’ve drawn so far for SunRiders and redraw everything now. There’s no way I’m going to use the old graphics when I know I can make much better ones. It’ll take a long time, but I think it’ll definitely be worth it in the end.
Also, I’m really hoping to release Real Life: Bishoujo Tragedy very quickly. It’ll definitely be a challenge, since it’ll run about the length of the original Real Life by Baka-Trio (30 minutes) with four main girls. I’ll drop some hints to what it’s about by saying that it’ll be a very personal project. :3 The art style (as you can see) will definitely be very moe, since that’s pretty much the only style that I’m capable of drawing, but as for the subject matter itself, it’ll probably be far less moe than my usual works, with a total absence of any city-leveling mechas. Keep your eyes opened for it next week. :3 If all goes out, you should be able to play it by then.
