And what better way is there to revive a dead blog than with a visual novel review? Today, we have a doujin visual novel made by Porn (no that was not a Freudian slip, that really is the name of the creator) named Crimsoness. You play as Bakumi Moriyama, a normal, everyday Japanese school girl who wrestles alligators, beats up hoodlums, and most importantly, splits the earth. But she only has three minutes to do all that before the visual novel force quits. Yes, you heard that right: There is a three minute time limit before everything stops and you’re forced to do everything all over again. Is this crazy? Yes. This visual novel will absolutely rape your mind. Read on if you are intrigued by cute Japanese school girls, epic action, teenage angst, and splitting the Earth. (Which covers just about all of you, right?)
Katawa Shoujo Act 1 – Initial Impressions
5 05 2009By now, I think that most of the visual novel community has played the Katawa Shoujo demo at least once. It’s really quite an impressive piece of work, so you should definitely go download it if you haven’t already. I got the Hanako ending and I’m at roughly 70% completion right now, so I think I’ve played enough to give my initial impressions.

Visual Novel Reviews – Snow Sakura
11 01 2009Now for something different – this is a commercial work that’s available from Peach Princess. Even though you have to pay money for it, I will still review and recommend this visual novel. However, since the download version (which I have) is not compatible with Vista x64, I am no longer able to provide screenshots for it. So that means that all the screenshots in this review are from J-List and Peach Princess.

Visual Novel Reviews – Winter Shard
8 01 2009And now it’s time for an older game. Even though Winter Shard by FIA’s Sanctuary has been out for quite awhile now, I still think it merits a review and a recommendation for anyone who has not yet played it.

Visual Novel Reviews: Songs of Araiah
5 01 2009Since it seems that not enough people know which visual novels are good, I think I’ll start writing some informational reviews about them on this blog every now and then. To my best estimate, there’s roughly 200 of them that are in English, and admittedly, not all of them are that great. So I’ll post some reviews of visual novels that I’ve found to be particularly well made here. Even though I might be a bit biased as a visual novel writer myself, it’s better to have a few biased reviews than no reviews at all, right? =3
Up first, we have the recently released Songs Of Araiah by Bishojo Games.
